Dear CSCA Members,
On March 29 2019, the Government of India issued a notification (attached) indicating a revised policy condition to the existing quantitative restrictions applying to the import of various pulses into India. The revised policy condition for peas (HS Code: 0713 1000 – yellow, green, dun and kaspa peas) allows for the import of 150,000 metric tonnes (1.5 Lakh MT) of peas into India during the period of April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.
The revised policy condition allows for the aforementioned quantity of peas to be allowed import into India “against license as per the procedure to be notified by Directorate General of Foreign Trade”. Pulse Canada is currently working with the Government of Canada to identify details of the import procedure required for peas to be allowed entry into India under this recently revised policy condition. All updates on this matter will be provided to CSCA members.
